Allez Mama is a \u201cWorld Beat Zydeco\u201d band from the Netherlands, inspired by rhythms rooted firmly in South-West Louisiana. Their Double Clutchin\u2019 zydeco incorporates blues, folk, polkas and even some funk – the best ingredients for Music Gumbo Stew!
\nFrom the start, over twenty years ago, the band\u2019s main objective has been to have fun on stage and live the good life. In cajun lingo: laissez les bons temps rouler! Soon they landed a hit in the Netherlands with \u201cJe Liegt Dat Je Barst\u201d (You Lie Like A Cheap Thai Watch) which brought them recognition, airplay, television gigs and a – somewhat modest – financial success. Most important of all, the band was booked solid all around the 90\u2019s, doing what they like best, playing the roof off of every venue they visited.<\/p>\n

\"\"But although the hype around Allez Mama has subsided, the band is showing no signs of slowing down. These five seasoned staged tigers are still going strong, playing all around in Holland as well as abroad. They still perform their hits, but with many new songs added, as well as cajun & zydeco traditionals. Every song is heavily peppered with the Allez Mama flavour: screaming harmonica, honking accordion, bluesy lead guitar, melodic bass and a relentless drum beat.<\/p>\n

Allez Mama has produced six albums up to now, the seventh one already taking baby steps in rehearsal. Their latest album, \u201cLagniappe\u201d contains eleven covers of songs written by the likes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, The Dixie Cups, Mumford and Sons and several well known Dutch artists, steeped in heady Louisiana moonshine.
\nThe lyrics, mostly written by frontman Lenny Laroux, cover \u201cthe thinkers, the drinkers and the dreamers\u201d and the life of a band on the road.<\/p>\n

The press in Holland appreciates the band\u2019s originality in its approach to cajun and zydeco, saying: \u201cAllez Mama smoothly blends grooves like no other band could.\u201d They describe the lyrics by Laroux as \u201ckeen and poetic at the same time\u201d.<\/p>\n

Onstage, the high-energy World Beat Zydeco of Allez Mama is a full body-and-soul experience for everyone in the audience. It\u2019s certain to keep crowd dancing, as well as appeasing lovers of the more traditional cajun & zydeco. One thing is for sure: the party won\u2019t stop as long as Allez Mama is playing.<\/p>\n

Leur premier succ\u00e8s aux Pays-Bas a \u00e9t\u00e9 la chanson “Je Liegt Dat Je Barst ” (Tu Ments Comme Un Arracheur De Dents). Ce qui l’ a fait conna\u00eetre: AirPlay , des concerts t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9s et une r\u00e9ussite financi\u00e8re – plut\u00f4t modeste \u2013 . Mais ce qui comptait le plus \u00e9tait d’\u00eatre continuellement sur sc\u00e8ne pendant les ann\u00e9es 90, en faisant ce qu’il aimait par dessus tout cr\u00e9er une ambiance ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nale avec de l\u2019audience.<\/p>\n

\"\"Malgr\u00e9 que le matraquage publicitaire autour de Allez Mama ait disparu, le groupe ne montre aucun signe de ralentissement. Ses cinq membres sont toujours en concert dans toute la Hollande et au-del\u00e0, jouent leur hits, des nouvelles chansons, ainsi que du cajun et zydeco pure tradition. Chaque chanson assaisonn\u00e9e au gout d\u2019 Allez Mama: des hurlements d’ harmonica, des cri d\u2019accord\u00e9on, des solo de guitare blues, de la basse m\u00e9lodique et un rythme de roulement increvable.<\/p>\n

Allez Mama a sorti six albums studio jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent et un septi\u00e8me en pr\u00e9paration. Leur dernier album, “Lagniappe” contient onze reprises de chansons de Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, The Dixie Cups, Mumford and Sons et plusieurs artistes N\u00e9erlandais. Les paroles, la plupart \u00e9crites par le chanteur Lenny Laroux, passent par des th\u00e8mes allant des penseurs, buveurs, r\u00eaveurs et la vie d’un groupe sur la route.
